How To Establish The Rate Merchant Account Providers Will Charge You
To establish the rate merchant account providers will charge you for processing transactions, they will factor in your credit rating, the length of time the business has been trading, and the type of business you are running. In some cases, the approval for merchant account facilities will be virtually automatic, while in others they will be virtually impossible to get. Even in these cases, however, there will be a solution which the provider can offer you. One way or another, you can be up and running and ready for business in less than a working week.
If you have an established business with good turnover, and a good credit rating, you should have no trouble being accepted by a bank for merchant account facilities. The only exceptions to this will be if you are running a business which the banks put in the high risk category even though it is profitable. The classic example of this is the adult industry, which banks are reluctant to get involved with despite the fact that many businesses within it make a lot of money.
The reluctance of the banks to become involved with adult businesses has opened up an opportunity for other service providers to step in and profit from their needs. Although the rate merchant account providers will charge you may be slightly higher, it will not be penal or prohibitive. You will still be able to get into business and offer to take credit cards in the usual way. If you are an established business, you will be seen as exactly the type of customer these providers need.
There are even possible solutions for businesses which don't fit this ideal model, including start-up businesses. Although you will need to pay a higher transaction rate to cover the increased risk, these rates are still at a level where they can easily be absorbed. If you cannot meet the qualification for a standard merchant account, you can still obtain facilities through a third party which will allow you to quickly get started in business.
Although the rate merchant account providers will charge you will vary depending on your circumstances, you will always be able to find a solution which will allow you to get started. You can always build your credit rating and reputation as you progress. Many of the businesses which are offered third party accounts are able to upgrade as soon as they reach the turnover threshold. If part of your business is carried out online, you can also take payments through PayPal or 2Checkout, although these services also charge a relatively high percentage. Because these brands, PayPal especially, are known and trusted by people buying on the Internet, it is probably wise to offer them as options even if you qualify for a cheap rate merchant account.
