Although you will need to pay a higher transaction rate to cover the increased risk, these rates are still at a level where they can easily be absorbed. If you cannot meet the qualification for a standard merchant account, you can still obtain facilities through a third party which will allow you to quickly get started in business.

Although the rate merchant account providers will charge you will vary depending on your circumstances, you will always be able to find a solution which will allow you to get started. You can always build your credit rating and reputation as you progress. Many of the businesses which are offered third party accounts are able to upgrade as soon as they reach the turnover threshold. If part of your business is carried out online, you can also take payments through PayPal or 2Checkout, although these services also charge a relatively high percentage. Because these brands, PayPal especially, are known and trusted by people buying on the Internet, it is probably wise to offer them as options even if you qualify for a cheap rate merchant account.
